Come and join our efforts to unlock the potential of new technologies in the food service industry and gastronomy for the first time - it will be a weekend of combining our love of food and technology.
The goal of the GastroHackathon is to solve gastronomy oriented challenges and create new solutions in a rapid prototyping format. To achieve this goal, four partners will host real-life challenges and participants (startups, students, innovators, entrepreneurs) will develop new prototypes in only 24 hours directly at the GAST Messe'19 in Salzburg.
Technology was always a fundamental part of the restaurant and hotel business, enabling better customer service and more time for enjoyment and consumption. At the Hackathon participants have an opportunity to take a step into the future of gastronomy by solving specific real-life challenges of partner companies:

Food tech futurist Christian Hamerle has been working in the hospitality and gastronomy business for more than 20 years, mainly dealing with F&B Management and optimizing service standards and processes. Three years ago, Christian started collaborating with SAP and managing the DATA KITCHEN, the digital gastronomy outlet of SAP’s DATA SPACE in Berlin. Since 2018 he also works as a mentor for the METRO techstars® Accelerator Programm. In addition, Christian also acts as a keynote speaker, sharing inspirational stories about the digital hospitality journey and his visions of the future food roadmap.
”Excellence in Tech by being user centric” followed Kate all around the globe - from New Zealand to Canada. Her international experiences, education in Psychology and Statistics and know-how of working in various industries made her an expert in Client Engagement with strong data understanding and analytical thinking. Currently she is driving the customer success at investory.io working with companies, entrpreneurs and investors.
FOOD & COMPANY - a connection that is gaining in importance for the individual in today's fast-paced, media-driven time. Thomas Kisters, who has been the managing partner of leonardi GmbH & Co. KG in Munich since 2008, is in demand here. With a background as a trained chef, business economist and years of experience in business consulting, he has been developing creative concepts for company catering for more than 11 years now. Since 2018, leonardi has been at the forefront of individuality, quality and craftsmanship in the industry with currently 25 companies in Munich and a company size of around 450 employees. In 2019, it was voted Caterer of the Year.
Lisa Loferer is the Managing Director of the Tourism Association Bad Gastein located in Salzburg and responsible for the development of the 1,2Mio overnight stays during winter and summer. Her vision drives the well known area with innovation and the best experiences for visitors all around the world.
Marcel Konrad, on the road for more than 20 years on public catering (GM), spent most of his time in management positions. Visionary and lateral thinker - ”inventor” of the first communication app in 2012 and the first PayMent platform in 2014. He strictly follows the vision of the new generation of cash and payment systems, e.g. via app, food detection and detection via camera.
Tech entrepreneur Sophie Bolzer is the founder of Audvice, an audio software solution that enables knowledge transfer work within organizations. Her international background taught her to see technology as a driver for successful product development and she engages her community as the local representative of Austrian startups to bring the ecosystem to the next level.
